I am now in my second term as a governor at Weddington. ( A term of office is 4 years).
I am the link governor for Safeguarding, SEND and Finance. I also make governors aware of training opportunities.
I live locally to Weddington and am retired , previously having been in teaching for 44 years; 28 years as a Headteacher in 3 Warwickshire schools and a consultant Headteacher in 2 schools.
My voluntary work not only includes being a governor, school appeals and exclusions for Warwickshire and a committee member for Nuneaton Festival of Arts.
My interests are: gardening, walking, theatre, music, literature and travel.
I do believe that every child, should be given every chance, every day!
That is why I am proud to say I am a Member of the Governing Board here at Weddington and can support the school in striving to achieve this vision.
I joined the Governing team in March 2020 as a parent governor. I have two girls, who starting September 2020, will be in Year 2 and Year 3. I am passionate about the place of school experience in children’s lives and hope that my 10 years’ experience as a primary school teacher, at a large Nuneaton primary school, will enable me to support Weddington Primary school in their continuing drive to develop and grow. I look forward to learning in my role as parent governor and being proactive in ensuring parental viewpoint can have a positive impact on the present and future of our school and pupils.
I have had the pleasure of working at Weddington Primary School since 2009. During this time, I have worked alongside many different colleagues, under a range of head teachers, been present for several OFSTED visits and seen the school go from strength to strength. My roles have been TA, 1:1 TA and, for the past 6 years, HLTA and computing coordinator. I am also an active member of the Weddy Friends committee and have children in Years 4 & 6 at Weddington Primary School. Collectively, these experiences have prepared me for the role of staff governor by providing me with valuable insights into what makes our school so special and unique, what is needed to ensure it remains successful and the good relations with staff and students that will help me ensure all voices are heard.
I joined the Governing team in October 2022 having previously been a governor at St Nicolas Primary School and Higham Lane. I took early retirement in 2015 after a long and fascinating career in management positions with Peugeot Motor Company. I thoroughly enjoy retired life watching many sports, playing golf, going to live theatre, doing voluntary work for Warwickshire Vision Support ... and experiencing a variety of holidays!! However when our eldest daughter (Miss Foden) moved to work at Weddington School as a teacher, I visited the school and was so impressed that I thought it would be great if I could perhaps help the school develop even further through practical and effective use of my work and life experiences.
I joined the governing team in November 2023 as a parent governor. I have worked in IT for the past 11 years in various roles, with a specialism in IT security. I am looking forward to helping the school with their continued growth and hope the skills I have developed will help this continued growth. My daughter also started reception in September 2023 so I also have a personal interest in helping move the school forwards.
I joined the Governing team in January 2024 as a co-opted Governor. I have lived in Weddington for 35 years and my daughter attended Weddington Primary School. I have worked in the NHS for 35 years in data analysis and performance monitoring. I am a volunteer for Nuneaton Festival of Arts which encourages both Creative and Performing Arts. I was the chair for 6 years and I have helped with the Speech & Drama Section for more than 10 years. I really enjoy theatre and especially Musical Theatre. I am looking forward to learning more about the Weddington family and using my experiences to help support the school in its continued success and development.
